style dolls 2

week 2!

"paper" dolls

So for the rest of the summer I will be doing at least one set of paper dolls a week.  This is an assignment given to us while I was auditing Daniel Krall's Lifestyle Illustration Class last spring.  I wanted to give it another try so I made new dolls  :)  But anyway, the idea is to dress the dolls in clothing that already exists, like an outfit from a designer's collection.  I am doing this to expand my mental library of clothing so that I can have more variation when designing my own characters outfits in the future. Whoohoo!

flash animation exercises

Here are some practice flash animations I've done here at FableVision Studios :)  The first was an exercise where I was given two flat characters that I had to prepare for animation and then animate them walking on screen and greeting each other.  The second is just a blue blob I did in preparation for animating the pink guy in the first animation. I have learned so much about flash and using it to animate!

my first walk cycle

So I gave a silly walk cycle a try :) the top one is faster and the bottom one is slower and features a creepy rabbit.

sketchbook #2 update :)

CLICK TO GO TO MY SKETCHBOOK

I just scanned a bunch of new pages from my sketchbook :) Have a look!

some quick lifedrawing and little sketchbook update

Here is some life-drawing stuff that we did one day in my Advanced Character Design class.  They were super quick and fun :)  I like them.

Also, I added some pages to my sketchbook on Flickr:  HERE!

CLICK HERE TO LOOK THROUGH MY SKETCHBOOK!

So I finally was able to scan in the current sketchbook that I am working on so people can look through it without my having to be there in person to show it to them!  Just click the link and use the next buttons on the page that opens to stay in the slide-show mode (or use the arrow keys on your keyboard).  I hope this is a good idea :)  More to come!

god king

This is the process and culmination of the next phase in my character design class.  We were assigned a main character from our group's story and had to do 30 thumbnails and then one final of that main character.  I designed the god king.  He has flowy eyebrows.  (the god king, in the story, kicks the main character god out of heaven.  I illustrated him in the act- his emotions control the weather)

character design!

For my class Advanced Character Design we are working in groups for the semester on a faux project about an existing story set to either a video game, an animated film, or a live action movie.  My group is the animated film group and we are doing a Japanese story about an 8 headed snake, the village he torments, and the god turned hero who saves them. For the first assignment we had to do character designs for the secondary characters of the story.  I did designs for villagers and monsters.  Our teacher, acting as both the client and the art director, chose one of my designs for me to bring to a colored finish.  He chose number 26. Since the design was rather generic I re-vamped the costume and put it on number 18. This made the design much more interesting :)
